Mr. Kashty was my grade 5 teacher many years ago ('93), That summer he said he was going to Thailand (good to hear he did go). He was a very passionate teacher, with plays that we put on in the classroom, authentic egg painting, class was never dull. It was always him and his coffee "cup" (I didn't think they made cups that big). My class picture he was holding said coffee cup (plain white and about the size of a soup bowl). He is one of the teachers I remember vividly. It was his deep passion for Greek and Roman mythology. Many classes went by were it was do we do math, or listen to a story of one of the trials of Hercules? Yes, Mr. Kashty booming voice would definitely know it was him "talking" (if you know, you know 😀 ), but he also had that kind side of him where he would ask you what's going on, and why you did what you did and to find a way to help. He wanted nothing but the best for his students. We lost a special kind of teacher with him and I know he will be missed by all those who knew him. Thank you, Mr. Kashty we will miss you and the tales of great mythologies you once shared with us.

Martin was a special soul. I taught with him at WK CI. I loved his creativity and humour. I would often chat with him at the Wellness about his latest travels. In fact, he and Ron helped me plan a trip to Greece and Turkey when I retired. He was always so kind and generous. A life well lived.
