Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, it is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ron Dixon on May 25, 2026 at Oakview Place.
Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife Karin of 56 years, son Wesley , daughter in law Carly, granddaughter Quinn, daughter Alecia, nephews
John,Vincent and Michael as well as cousins Kathy, Ken and Nancy, many relatives, extended family and longtime friends. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Don and sister in law Nina.
Ron grew up in Edmonton. After graduating from high school he attended the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and in 1968 earned a Diploma in Architecture.
Ron and Karin were married in 1970 and moved to Winnipeg where he attended U of M and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies.
Ron worked at a variety places over his long career including -Manitoba Provincial Parks, Parks Canada, the Northwest Co. ,BLJC, and Winnipeg #1 School Division.
Ron had a passion for music and spent long hours recording songs on his reel to reel recorder . His love of sports included playing racquetball, handball and cycling. He loved watching football and hockey, and was always up for Grey Cup parties with friends. Ron and Karin enjoyed many camping and canoe trips to various parks with friends. They also enjoyed many excursions including 6 weeks travelling around Mexico, 6 weeks in New Zealand and Australia as well as trips to the Yukon where they hiked the Chilcoot Trail.
Ron was a long time resident of the Wolseley community where he was known to have his finger on the pulse of the neighbourhood and could often be found chatting with neighbours.
Our thanks go out to the friends who visited during Ron’s illness and for all the support provided to our family during this difficult time .
A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at a later date.
