PETER JOHN MURRAY
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Peter John Murray on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at the age of 36 years. Peter will be sadly missed and always remembered by his mother Penny Murray and father David Murray; stepfather Brian Head and stepmother Pat Benjaminson; sister Andrea Murray and brother-in-law Winston Blakey and their children Thomas and Sydney; stepsister Jennifer Best and brother-in-law Mike Best and their children Matthew, Abby and Ella; stepbrother Adam Wiles and son Casey Benoit; stepsister Colleen Guggenberger and daughters Danika and Aunica. Also remaining to cherish his memory are many extended family members including his Aunt Joan Tucker; cousins Cory and Michelle and Ainslie and Steve; Uncle Don and Aunt Marg, Uncle Wade and Aunt Sharon, Uncle John and Aunt Rita, Uncle Marlon and Aunt Jeanne; numerous step cousins and dear friends. Peter’s little dog Maggie (“Margaret”), whom he loved with all his heart, will also miss him very much. Peter was born in Winnipeg on January 4, 1981. An IB graduate of Kelvin, he attended the University of Manitoba in the Faculty of Pharmacy, graduating in 2005. He was chosen to deliver the valedictorian address for which he was very proud. He worked in the community and at Health Sciences Centre for many years. He especially enjoyed the challenge of working in the Intensive Care Unit. Peter was a sports enthusiast; he loved to play golf and hockey when younger and had a passion for Jets games. He loved travelling, especially to Canada’s east coast and family vacations to Disney World. Peter’s many friendships were especially important to him. Always a gracious host, he enjoyed cooking gourmet food and playing cards and board games with friends for hours on end. He read eclectic books that he found in used book stores, had a deep appreciation for music, and had a gift for writing. Peter was gentle, sensitive, and well-mannered, and enjoyed a keen and wry sense of humour. He had an astonishing memory that retained trivial facts and the more crucial medical knowledge that he used daily in his career as a pharmacist. We will miss him dearly. A Funeral Service in memory of Peter will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Andrews Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. His ashes will be scattered in places he loved. In lieu of flowers or cards, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice, or support a scholarship in his grandfather’s name, The Dr. J.R. Murray Convocation Prize Fund, that can be made online at umanitoba.ca/giving. Wojcik’s Funeral Chapels & Crematoriums, Winnipeg, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com
