BARRIE GORDON RICHARDSON

Barrie Gordon Richardson passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026 surrounded by his closest loved ones.

He was born on December 10, 1948 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Philippe and Anne Richardson. He was the baby of the family with 4 brothers, and 2 sisters. Barrie grew up in St Boniface and attended Nelson McIntyre High School, graduating in 1966.

Always a hard working man, he began with delivering papers and assisting at the local curling club as a youngster. After working in shipping/receiving for several years as a young adult, Barrie’s love for home baking led him to the Commercial Baking course at Red River College in the early 1980s. He worked at local bakeries for many years but eventually returned to shipping/receiving, retiring from Anixter in 2014.

He was an avid sports enthusiast. Affectionately known as “Pebbles” in his younger days, Barrie was well-known for his curling, often ensuring victories for his team or at the very least, a good time on the ice. His passion for his sports teams was infectious, often expressed loudly with enthusiasm and vigour. He was a proud Winnipeg Blue Bomber “Bomber For Life” season ticket holder.

Barrie’s love for family was unwavering. Every moment spent with them was treasured deeply whether it was attending events, enjoying day trips to the beach, teaching his daughter and grandchildren how to bake his famous chocolate chip cookies, or sharing a tasty lunch in Lockport. He also adored his long walks with his many adopted dogs over the years. He had a heart of gold which made him a reliable and caring presence in the lives of those around him, always ready to lend a hand or share a life lesson.

Barrie was a loving father to his daughter Tanya and his son Lee who passed in 2017, and a proud grandfather (known as “Papa”) to Nina and Aidan. His close family, including Kevin, Jean, and Ed will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

Goodbyes are not forever, are not the end; it simply means I’ll miss you until we meet again.
