WILLIAM ARCHER GATES

Peacefully, after a brief illness; it is with deep regret that we announce the death of William Archer Gates, 16th of January 2025 at the St Boniface hospital at the age of 67.

William who lived in Winnipeg in the family home, predeceased his father Edward Gates and mother Viola Gates and his common law wife of 23 years Stella Basisty. He leaves behind two sisters Brenda, Rhonda, brother in-law Eddie along with four nieces Alanna, Katlyn, Taralyn and Jacklyn, among numerous relatives and friends.

William was known for always stepping up to help, working on cars or doing something with his hands. He also loved going on the hunt for a great deal. He has been known for waking up his oldest niece at a gawd awful times on Saturday mornings to go to garage sales, and his niece would find herself eating lunch and dinner some where in either in Ontario, Saskatchewan, or Alberta and home just in time for bath and bed.

Some of Williams accomplishments was 30 years of sobriety along with ringing the bell to declare he was cancer free at cancer care Manitoba after loosing a Kidney and under going treatment in 2024.

William was loved deeply by those who knew him and will be greatly missed.

A special thank you to the doctor and nursing staff that was assigned to him in the St Boniface hospital in the ICU.
