Verna Dzioba

November 9, 1917 - July 6, 2016

MAY DZIOBA   Early on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 May Dzioba fell asleep in death at West Park Manor Personal Care Home in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 98 and a half years.      May was born to Florence and Herbert Higginson on November 9, 1917 on their family farm. She had an older sister Dorothy and brother Stuart, as well as two step-brothers Roy and Bert Crowston. May worked for Canada Bread in Winnipeg and then as a dietary aide with Vancouver General Hospital.   When May was a youth, Ina Crozier was the local postmistress and took advantage to share with May God’s Word by recorded talks played from phonograph records.  Although the seeds were planted they didn’t sprout until the 1940’s.  In 1953 May travelled to New York to attend the Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses where she was baptized.  There she met the love of her life Myron Dzioba (deceased) and they were married January 1954.  They moved to Vancouver and were part of the Marine Congregation for most of their lives.   May loved to talk about the Bible and share in the public ministry. Her favourite saying was “Trust in Jehovah”.  Some scriptures she was most fond of were Job 14:14, 15 and Revelations 21:4 also James 4:8.  She loved to sing ‘Take Sides with Jehovah’. Monday’s were highlighted by Gladys Lavallo reading the Daily Text and My Book of Bible Stories to her.   The Dzioba and Crookshanks families encourage you to remember May by reading God’s Word.   Many thanks to the second east wing nurses and staff at West Park Manor.  Your caring attitude and kindness are very much appreciated.   Wojcik’s Funeral Chapels & Crematorium, Winnipeg, 1020 Main Street, 204.586.8668 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com
