STEPHANIE HANNON
September 2,1928 – January 12, 2019
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Nana and Babcza, Stephanie Hannon at the age of 90 years old.
She leaves to honour her memory, her daughter Debbie Schoffer of Aurora, Ontario, and her son, Jim Hannon, of Winnipeg, Manitoba as well as two grandchildren, Shannon (Chris) Ingram
of Newmarket, and Sean (Whitney) Schoffer of Courtice, Ontario. Stephanie was blessed with 4 great grandchildren, Matthew and Shayne Ingram and Hannah and Lucy Schoffer.
Stephanie was pre-deceased by her dear husband, George and her son, Jordan, as well as her parents, John and Anna Oleszko, her brother Joseph Oleszko and her son-in-law, Larry Schoffer.
Stephanie was born on September 2, 1928 to Polish immigrant parents who came to Canada to provide a better life for themselves and their children. She met her husband, George Hannon at
a Sokol Hall dance in St. Boniface, Manitoba. He noticed her green suede shoes and the rest is history.
Stephanie worked part-time at The T. Eaton Company in the ladies shoe department and advanced her skills with the company to become a data processor in the catalogue shopping department. She later worked for Office Overload and Ducks Unlimited and then retired to enjoy travelling to visit Debbie, Larry, the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She came to visit as often as she could until the loss of her mobility and her move to Golden Links Lodge Nursing Home.
The family would like to thank everyone at Golden Links Lodge especially the wonderful nursing staff for all of their care, hard work and patience in her final years. A special thank you to the
activity directors for making her days so enjoyable and to the hairdressers at the Lodge for always making her feel so special. They always made sure she had a beautiful flower in her hair
that matched her outfit. It was always such a treat for her to visit them.
We are so very grateful for her 90 years with us, for the many fond memories and the many “Stephie” stories which we will forever cherish. They always guarantee a chuckle or two.
A private family service will be held at our Lady of Grace Church in Aurora, Ontario. Together,
Stephanie and George will be laid to rest in the Aurora Cemetery in Aurora, Ontario in the spring of 2022.
Forever loved and sadly missed.
