ROBERT “BOB” PROTEAU

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather Robert Proteau. He passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 30, 2018 at the age of 77 years.

Bob is sadly missed and is fondly remembered by his family and friends. He leaves behind the following family members to mourn his passing: loving wife Wanda; daughter Marly (Steve); son Steven; grandson Brayden; sister-in-law Marina; nephews Gerald (Joanne), Michael and Marc.  Bob was predeceased by his brother Ronald and parents Honoree and Blanche Proteau (nee Lavoie).

Bob was born on August 1, 1940 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He grew up spending many summers with his brother Ron and relatives fishing, boating and swimming in Rainy River, Ontario.
On September 4, 1976 Bob and Wanda married in Winnipeg. Bob was a very caring man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was very passionate and involved in attending all sports and school events for both his children. Bob was always there for us, always proud and made us feel special.

Bob worked at Winnipeg International Airport as a fire fighter. He retired from Transport Canada in 1996 as Captain of Airport Fire and Emergency Services. In his later days before his passing, Bob enjoyed working at Club 373. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandson Brayden, who was the light of his life.

In accordance with Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place and final interment will be held at a private family only event held at the Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Grace Hospital for their care and kindness. Also, thank you to everyone in advance for their kind words during this time of bereavement.
