RICHARD “GARRY” GREGORYOn Friday, February 19, 2016 Garry passed away at Grace Hospital at 85 years of age.Garry is survived by his wife Joan and their three children, Garth (Eva) of Houston, Texas, Brenda (Dr. Murray VanAlstyne) of Dauphin, Kevin (Nicole) of Winnipeg; six grandchildren and two great grandsons; brother Claire (Bernice) and family of Winnipeg; sister Joan (Bob Stanbery) Arizona and Arlene Wilkins of Perth, Ontario; numerous nieces and nephews in Manitoba, Alberta and BC. He was predeceased by Parents Russell and Mae Gregory.In 1952 Garry obtained his B. Sc. in Agriculture from University of Manitoba. He started his career with Canadian National Railways as Superintendent of Colonization and Agriculture in Saskatoon in 1957. He was transferred to Winnipeg in 1965, then appointed Industrial Development officer for the Prairie Region until he retired in 1987.Garry was a member of the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, Manitoba Institute of Agrologists, President of Industrial Developers Association of Canada and Director of the Public Markets Ltd. He worked with several St. James community clubs (baseball/hockey), taking hockey teams to the USA and Sweden. Garry chaired the St. James International Lions Hockey Tournament for seven years.Many enjoyable winters were spent with Joan Golfing in Corpus Christi, Texas and travels around the world. Garry always had beautiful flower gardens and was the proud recipient of an award for the best residential backyard in Winnipeg.In compliance with Garry’s wishes, no Funeral Service will be held.
