When I first heard the news I wrote a post and went to my man cave and cried. I will tell you why. Nestor and I were cadets together and started working together when were teens. We then worked together in Base Supply and at the curling club. We were always by each other's side. We feed off each other during work and play. We played hockey together, baseball (GO BANDITS) fishing and flag football. When I decided to join the military in 78 Nestor helped me train and pushed me when I started to falter. In 79 I joined but at the going away party we went outside and I hug him as hard as I could and thanked him with tears in my eyes for the help and support. Nestor as Leigh says the gentle giant, hugged back and said with tears he was proud of me and stated RG (my son) you know we are brothers, that's what we do. I know you all know how wonderful he was just wanted to show how much more. You are already missed. Soldier on Brother. RG

I met Nestor in 1974 where he was working at the Rifle Range for my Dad. He was such a gentleman and would stand guard for me to use the facilities out there and anyone who has been out there knows they were not built for ladies. It was the first and only time in my life I had ever seen an out house with 12 holes in a bench. I introduced Reg to Nestor and they immediately became good friends. We all played baseball together for CFB ( Go Bandits ) for many years and made some incredible memories and friends. Nestor arranged for us to play a baseball tournament in Piney and we all decided we would stay for the weekend. We had the best time and again had to share the facilities as the hotel only had one bathroom. Nestor you touched our hearts and our lives. Truly a gentleman. You will never be forgotten.

Nestor was a fun-loving, caring gentleman who always took the time to ask how you were and what was going on in your life. His care and concern for others was very evident by the the numerous tributes. 'One hundred percent' was always his response when you asked how he was doing...this will always be remembered! Piney was a very special place in Nestor's heart and we were very lucky to share many great events and times there with him. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the family and friends. Rest in peace Nestor...with loving memories, Perry, Susan, Caitlin & Britney Sawka

I just wanted to say a few things about my step dad Nestor. He was more than just my step dad he was my best friend. Always over at my place didn't matter if it was just a roll by after work to make sure everything was good or on a Friday night having drinks in the man cave with me and my friends and neighbors. He also put my friends and neighbors before him. Saying don't be shy we made plenty of food for an army and making sure your beveys wern't empty and if they were he was always there with a refill before you could even get up. He's going to be missed hugely. I'm going to miss you me son!! Have one for me!! Thanks everyone for the nice tributes you guys are writing he was very special in all our hearts!
