Marlene Sharon Murray (nee Schultz)

After a short battle with cancer, Marlene Murray passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025 in the palliative care ward of St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 79 years, with her family at her side.

Marlene, leaves behind, her husband of 60 years Orville Murray, her four daughters, Deann Hertzog (Doug), Dawn Murray, Sharon Murray, Susan Morrow (Curt), grandchildren Kyle Verheul, Tyler Sparham, Jasmine Sparham, Jessy Morrow, and Jamie Morrow (Kassandra), along with three great grandchildren, Hannah, Hudson, and Aubrey.

Marlene also leaves behind three sisters, Pat (Brad), Debbie (Ron), Wendy (Keith), one brother Barry (Joyce), as well as many nieces and nephews. Darren Olynick and Frank Smart, will also miss Marlene as a special “mom” in their lives.

Marlene was born in Russell, MB on November 6, 1946 and grew up on the farm in Langenburg, SK, with her family (predeceased by her parents, Art and Rose Schultz). On October 23, 1965, Marlene and Orville were married, and in 1972 they moved to Lockport, MB to settle in and raise their four daughters. Marlene spent many years on the ice Curling in Selkirk and the surrounding areas and even scored an eight ender in Beausejour, MB. Mom also had a creative side, making Christmas decorations, clothes, ceramics quilting, and knitted many scarves and toques she donated to charities.

The family is especially grateful to the compassionate Dr’s and Nurses of the St. Boniface Palliative Care ward. We could not have asked for better care of our mom.

In keeping with our mom’s quiet nature, a private celebration of life will be held Friday, December 19, 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care unit (stbhf.ca) in memory of our mom are appreciated.
