LORRAINE DENT PRYCHUN (née Durand)
It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Lorraine Dent Prychun (née Durand), a devoted wife, mother, sister, nurse, and friend, whose warmth and strength touched all who knew her. Lorraine passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026 at the River Park Gardens Personal Care Home surrounded by loved ones.
Lorraine leaves behind her loving husband and cherished companion Brian. She will be forever treasured by her three children: Ashley (Laura), Eric (Jenn), and Dustin (Amanda). She also leaves behind five beloved grandchildren – Olivia, Landon, Aureyanna, Abigail and Emerson – who brought her immeasurable pride and joy. Lorraine is lovingly remembered by her brother Rick (Karen) and her sister Sharon (Harold), along with extended family, dear friends, colleagues, and the many lives she impacted throughout her remarkable journey. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Marg and Leo Durand.
Lorraine devoted her professional life to nursing — not simply as a career, but as a calling. She completed her Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Manitoba in the spring of 1974 and later shared her passion as an instructor at the Grace Hospital, followed by many roles that took her throughout Manitoba. A respected and accomplished leader, she retired after a distinguished career managing all personal care homes in the North Eastman Health Association, later becoming the Interlake–Eastern Regional Health Authority. Her leadership, tireless advocacy, and deep compassion elevated standards of care and enriched the lives of countless residents, families, and healthcare professionals. She led with both strength and heart, earning admiration across the community.
Lorraine’s contributions to the communities she loved remain evident today. Kin Place Personal Care Home in Oakbank was an endeavor she proudly spearheaded through personal and community fundraising efforts while serving as project lead during its construction. She maintained a similar leadership role in the development of the personal care home in Lac du Bonnet, which is now under construction — a lasting testament to her vision and dedication.
Beyond her professional achievements, Lorraine embraced life fully and joyfully. She loved to dance — rarely missing an opportunity to move to the music with infectious enthusiasm. She found great happiness in travel, always eager to explore new places and create lasting memories. Her garden reflected her nurturing spirit, blooming under her attentive care, and she was happiest outdoors, soaking in sunshine and fresh air.
In retirement, Lorraine channeled her entrepreneurial spirit and gift for hospitality into running a successful bed and breakfast. There, she created not just a place to stay, but a welcoming haven filled with warmth, laughter, and thoughtful touches that made every guest feel at home.
Lorraine’s life was defined by service, vitality, and deep love. She lived with purpose, gave without hesitation, and celebrated every season of life with grace and determination. Her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor her memory by spending time outdoors, tending a garden, dancing to your favorite song, or extending kindness to someone in need — gestures that would have meant so much to her. A special thank you to the staff at River Park Gardens Personal Care Home for providing support to Lorraine over the course of her final months.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
