JOSEPH (ANDY) GALLANT
February 8, 1929 –  December 28, 2017
It is with great sadness we share the sudden passing of Andy.   Left to remember Andy are his wife and partner of 17 years, Kathy Loeppky; his children, Charles (Irene), Linda, Ellen (Ian), John (Trish), Ann; grandson Thomas; sisters Zella Allen, Agnes Gallant, Louise Kolpean (Ron); as well as numerous nieces and nephew. He was predeceased by his parents Albina and Cyrus Gallant; five brothers; four sisters; his wife Helen (Head); and partner Elma Hutchins.   Andy was born in Urbinville, PEI. In 1952, at the age of 22, he joined the army with the P.P.C.L.I. to serve in the Korean War. He served for the next 25 years, which included the Peacekeepers in Cypress and other areas. After retiring from the Armed Forces, Andy worked at various jobs and ended his career with many years of service as a Winnipeg Transit bus driver. Andy was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion (Charleswood) and Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans of Canada (Rockwood). He was elected President of the Rockwood Seniors group, which he served for a few years.   Andy was a very active person, enjoying curling and playing darts in both the Legion and the ANAF Vets. He enjoyed playing VLTs, cards with family and friends, and doing puzzles for hours on end.     A celebration of Andy’s life will be held at ANAVET (Rockwood Unit 303) on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Lower Hall, 341 Wilton St. Winnipeg, MB.    In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, 840 Sherbrook St, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1S1.   Wojcik’s Funeral Chapels & Crematoriums, Winnipeg, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com
