On Friday, February 12, 2016, at the age of 99 years, Jeanette Noakes passed away peacefully with friends by her side.Jeanette will be lovingly remembered by her brother-in-law, Ed Noakes; niece Linda (Rick) Kullman; nephews, Nigel (Angela), Bill (Barbara) and Peter Armstrong; and Della (Jim) Beattie, along with many other good friends in both England and Canada. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Gertrude Gardiner; brother Raymond Gardiner; sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Norman Armstrong and her daughter, Dianne Brandson.
On December 17, 1916, Jeanette was born in Carlisle, England and came to Canada as a war bride in 1945. She made many friends in the Manitoba motorcycling community and working at Childs Restaurant, the Princeton Café and in the cafeterias at the Winnipeg General Hospital, Victoria Hospital and University College. Jeanette loved animals, dancing and was an avid bowler, playing regularly in a league until last year. She was also a prolific knitter and wonderful baker and her treats were much appreciated by everyone with whom she shared them.A Memorial Service celebrating Jeanette’s life will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in ArlingtonHaus Retirement Home, 880 Arlington Street, Winnipeg.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 0R3.Wojcik’s Funeral Chapels & Crematorium, Winnipeg, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com
