Frans was much more than a great Chef to all those that knew Him on the Radar Sites, He was caring, Soft Spoken and a Guy that would make time to talk to You. I Remember Him as someone I enjoyed talking to and He always made Me smile. Rest in Peace Frans.

Have just received the sad news of Frans' passing. Richard and I shared many happy meals with Frans and Diane in restaurants and our homes. He was a sweet, lovely gentleman. A meal at his home was a very special occasion and we were always made to feel very special. We are so glad that Frans and Diane were able to truly live life to the fullest with family, friends and all their traveling. Diane, our sympathies are with you at this very sad time. C

Our hearts go out to Diane and family with the passing of their dear Frans. Luc and I are so grateful we had the time to get to know Frans. Diane and I were co-workers and we started including our husbands in our visits and found out very soon how much we all had in common. It was either dinner at our house or their's and we always waited in anticipation to find out what gourmet meal Frans had prepared for us along with his pastry chef, Diane. Frans was a very kind, generous and fun loving friend who Luc and I will miss very much. I will always remember his beautiful smile. Rest in peace dear friend.

Frans was a sweet gentle giant who stood head and shoulders above many. Perhaps not so much in stature as in kindness, wisdom and humanity. A blessing not only to his family but also his friends. Sincerest condolence to Diane and the family. May warm memories of Frans keep in close in heart. He enjoyed life.

We had only known Frans for the past 3 years, and because of not living near one another we didn't really see each other much. But, when we did we always enjoyed he and Diane. I remember when they came to visit Eric and Jennifer a couple of summers ago, I went into the local grocery store to pick up some food for supper. As I turned into the parking lot, I saw this man sitting in a lawn chair outside his R.V in the parking lot with his dogs. I thought to myself, 'who is that guy?' It was a small town and every one knew every one... Then I realized it was Frans sitting waiting for Diane to purchase some groceries. I drove over and parked beside his R.V and had a chat while waiting for Diane to come out of the store. Also, last Fall while Charlie and I travelled Western Canadian, we stopped in Winnipeg to visit family. We also met Frans and Diane, enjoyed a lovely lunch together and then they toured us around the city. Always enjoyed being together, even if those visits were few. Wish we had more of them!! Frans, you will be missed!

I had the privilege of working with Frans at Gull Harbour Resort in Hecla. He was my chef and he was famous for and the first to bring made-to-order omlets for Sunday Brunch in the Dining Room and also freshly squeezed orange juice and his pastry and fruit trays were unbelievable. Frans always talked about getting up North to work and make the big bucks and he did just that. He was a real professional in the kitchen and took all his cooks under his wing and taught them so much. I learned a lot from Frans and enjoyed working with him. Condolences to his family from Evelyn Thordarson, Co-Ordinator of Operations, Gull Harbour Resort 1984-1987

Opa will be dearly missed on his bi-annual treks out to see his family in BC. We greatly enjoyed the time he spent with us; making us laugh, living life to the fullest, and making us sit through endless episodes of Coronation Street! Rest in peace.

I was a young man at my first job in Hecla and Frans was my boss 28 years ago. He treated me with kindness and when I told him that after high school I was back packing through Europe he hooked me up with a Lenny and Anita in Holland Who became like a mother and sister to me, we are still close today. Frans had a big heart and was a big influence in the early part of my life. I am very fortunate that our paths crossed as he influenced me greatly. Rest in Peace

Saying goodbye to a wonderful man is never easy but Frans is someone I will carry in my heart forever! We worked together at Hecla from 1984-1991 and shared many amazing memories, but his dream was to work up NORTH and make big bucks as he would say, and his other dream was to meet Diane, and that he did, but even with his busy full life he always made time for old friends, so we seldom lost touch. He had a heart of GOLD and our good memories will live on forever. We will miss you Frans. Love to Diane, the boys and their gorgeous families xxxx Sincere sympathy Susie, Joel, Sean and Nicole
