ELAINE DIANA MAY PARENT (NEE DOWNEY)

Elaine Diana May Parent, age 72, of Winnipeg, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 29th, 2025. She was born June 6th, 1953, in Whitehorse, Yukon, to Norah and William Downey.

Elaine was an enormous Doctor Who fan. She would regularly attend Keycon in Winnipeg with friends and family members and was an avid collector of all sorts of different pop culture items. She was fiercely loyal to those close to her and was especially proud of her children. She had a momma bear quality to her that extended to friends of her children, and she often took on a parental role in her grandchildren’s lives. Elaine also had a strong taste in music. She regularly listened to The Moody Blues and loved relaxing to classical music. She was also very proud of her time in the Canadian military, something she was always happy to talk about with anyone that would listen.

Elaine was predeceased by her parents, William and Norah Downey.

Elaine is survived and deeply mourned by her sons Patrick Downey, Daemon Parent (Vanessa), and Erin Parent (Nicole). She is survived by her seven grandchildren, (Patrick) Leah, Kyra, PJ, (Daemon) Madissyn, Jovie, Maxime, and Oaklin. She is also survived by her seven great grandchildren. (Leah) Ethan, Gavin, Olivia, (Kyra) Devlin, Auria, Mercedes, and Rose.

Elaine is survived by her brothers Jim Downey (Helen), Kerry Downey (Ingrid), and sister Cheryl Downey. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

There will be a private family service for the interment which will take place at Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg. And A celebration of life will also happen in the late spring/early summer to allow for family members to travel to attend.
