EDWARD (TED) ARTHUR BARNES
October 7, 1934 – June 20, 2017
 
   Peacefully after a brief illness, it is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Edward (Ted) Arthur Barnes on Tuesday June 20, 2017 at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, Manitoba, at the age of 82 years.
   Left to survive Ted are his wife Jean of 31 years; his daughter Sandra (David); his son Robert (Cora); four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also surviving are Jean’s children, Larry (Laurette), Carol (Dennis), Darlene (George), Darryl (Linda), Donna (Rick), Keith, twenty-two grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Lois; two brothers in infancy, John and William; sister Audreen and parents Percy and Mary.
   Ted retired from the City of Winnipeg Fire Department in 1986 after thirty-one years of service. Throughout his life he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, fifth wheeling and travelling throughout Canada and the United States. Ted had a wonderful sense of humor which he maintained until his last days.
   Funeral services will be held at the Pat Porter Active Living Centre, 10 Chrysler Gate, Steinbach, Manitoba on Monday June 26, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor John Wiebe. A private interment will take place at a later date.
   Heartfelt thanks are extended to the staff of Bethesda, Ste. Anne and Seven Oaks Hospitals for their compassionate care throughout Ted’s illness.
