AMADOR ELOY DIAZ
1942 – 2025
Amador was born in San Antonio, Chile and was one of seven children. At a young age he joined the Chilean Air Force but due to political unrest he immigrated to Canada in 1975. His first job in Canada was carpentry which in time led to receiving his journeyman papers. Later, he worked at Boeing where he could utilize some of his mechanical skills, where he eventually retired.
At first, he was unable to return to Chile but never lost contact with his family. Years later when things became favourable, he was able to return to Chile and visit with his family that he had so missed. Amador never forgot his family and would visit as often as he could. He was a wonderful brother.
When Amador became Ill, he kept it a secret from many thinking that he may become well again. Unfortunately, this was not to be.
Amador and Cheryl had a shared love of Clear Lake, and it was always an adventure… Many Falls, It was their refuge from the noise and bustle of the city. It was their quiet space.
Amador loved his soccer and took it quite seriously. When soccer was on, he was somewhere else. He was a growing fan of Hockey after many years of dislike for some aspects of the game. Amador and Craig had many a debate on what was the best sport Hockey or Soccer? Think they eventually agreed to disagree on that subject.
Amador enjoyed going to the RehFit Centre. He was committed to his daily exercise and over time met some wonderful people. He was able to do an incredible workout and something he was proud of. Amador was fortunate to never be sick with anything serious and for the most part of his life he was pain free. For that we are so grateful.
A special thanks to my Sister Linda, Niece Kendra, Nephew Alex/Denise, Friends Daria, Gail and Lisandro, Lynda and Paul, Patchy and Fernando, Julie from the Rehfit Centre, and son Craig/Raynelle as well for all their support. Thank you.
Also, special thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses in Palliative Care at the St. Boniface Hospital, who have one of the most difficult jobs and who worked tirelessly to those in need. They are truly special…
