Olive (Ollie) Donna Hamilton (nee Wright)
Feb 18, 1935 to April 6, 2026

We are grateful for the life of Ollie Hamilton (nee Wright) and are sad to announce her passing.

She was predeceased by her husband Gale, son Brad, and daughter Lisa.

Ollie is survived by: daughters Terry (Les), Kim (Darrel), Lorie (Rory), and son-in-law Dave; Grandchildren Jarrad (Jenn), Dana (Colin), Devin (Sara), Drew (Michelle), Megan (Tyler), Jaclyn and Ryan; and Great Grandchildren Eliott, Tessa, Lillabelle, Jarvis, Ivy, Erik, Ava, Jane and Jonny.

Ollie was born in Boissevain, Manitoba, to Arthur and Eileen Wright. She spent her early years on the farm and shared many memories of life there including time spent with her grandparents, the love of her uncles, her fear of the chickens and adventures with her horse, Daisy. Life on the farm was good, but lonely, so she was very excited to have her sister added to the family 13 years later. They still consider themselves twins!

Subsequently, the family moved to Boissevain where she spent her teenage years working at the bakery and the telephone office and going to dances and camping at Clear Lake.
After high school, she moved to Brandon for business college and met her future husband, Gale Hamilton. Together they spent many years moving around Saskatchewan and Manitoba, making dear friends everywhere they went and raising 5 children.

Ollie was really happy when their young family moved to Brandon where she was able to live near her family. She had close ties with her relatives in southern Manitoba and especially with her sister Noreen (Jeff) and her beloved niece Taunya and nephews Mike and Scott. She made many close friends, including the indelible Pam and her family. She spent several memorable family holidays at Clear Lake. Another big part of her life in Brandon was her volunteer work with the Kinettes.

The family settled in Winnipeg in 1968 where Ollie continued to make friends and was a stay at home mom for many years. While raising her children, Ollie liked to socialize by having coffee with friends, including her best friend, Kathy. She was part of a lively Saturday night couples bridge group as well as a ladies bridge club. She loved listening to music and was especially thrilled to see her hero, Tony Bennett, perform live both in Reno and in Winnipeg. Later, she re-entered the work force, working for many years at motor vehicle licensing where she was known by colleagues as “Judge Judy” for her ability to detect people who were not giving her the true story of their licensing history. During those years she loved golfing with her friends when she wasn’t busy hosting backyard family barbeques.

In retirement, Ollie volunteered with Palliative Manitoba and was active in her church, Crestview United, where she greatly appreciated the guidance of her minister, Beth Rutherford. She enjoyed living at Metropolitan Kiwanis Courts (MKC) for 7 years where she looked forward to Friday afternoon music events, lunch with friends, and cribbage.

Family was always first with Ollie. She was very proud of all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Because of her example and commitment, the family has strong roots and is deeply connected. She embodied all of the qualities one could wish for. Strong yet soft. She knew deep grief and great joy. She packed a lot of patience. Resilient, yet happy to go with the flow. Trusting. Loving. Generous of heart. Never missed a friend or family birthday - and there were many! Stoic in times of hardship. Silly when given the chance. And she had the best Santa story you will ever hear.

She was the life of the party at her 90th birthday in February of 2025. Ollie often remarked how special it was to be able to celebrate with so many of her family. She celebrated in true Ollie style with loads of laughter, plenty of chocolate birthday cake and perhaps a glass of wine! Ollie loved reminiscing about her life and we are grateful for the legacy of her stories.

She will be forever remembered and deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

We owe great thanks to the staff at MKC and the angel healthcare aides for going “above and beyond” to care for Ollie. The family is also very grateful to the amazing staff at Riverview Health Centre 3E for the compassion and care they provided to mom and her family on her final journey.

At mom’s request a private family interment will be held in Boissevain and a family celebration of life will be held in Alberta this summer.

To remember Ollie and who she was for her family, friends, church and community, we invite you to make a donation to a charity that means something personal to you, in her honor.

MARY MILDRED (MICKEY) MARLOW NEE FARDY

JANUARY 8TH, 1930 - APRIL 2ND, 2026

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Mildred (Mickey) Marlow on Thursday, April 2nd, 2026, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at 96 years old. In the wee hours of the morning, Mickey mercifully slipped the bonds of this earth to join her husband Arthur, daughter Lynn, great-granddaughter Brittany, brother James, and the other angels of the family, including nearly all of her generation.

Mickey leaves to mourn and miss her sons, Lester (Lyla), Wayne (Heather), Gregory (Valerie); grandchildren, Kristen (Mike), Liz (Keith), Michelle (Ken), Scott, Jeffery (Joanne), Meako-Anna (Elizabeth), Measha (Justin), Rilena (Brendan); great-grandchildren, Cody, Dillan, Olivia, Zoey, and Berkeley. She also leaves behind extended family throughout Canada and parts of the United States.

Mickey was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, on January 8th, 1930, to Ernest and Adeline Fardy. She attended Notre Dame Academy, a convent school for girls in Charlottetown, where she acted in plays and completed her studies. After high school, Mickey was employed by the telephone company, where she worked in accounts receivable and occasionally worked the switchboard. In 1948, she had traveled by bus from Charlottetown to Summerside to attend a dance where she met Arthur (Art) Marlow, a young man stationed in Summerside with the Royal Canadian Airforce. Their romance soon blossomed, and they married on Arthur's birthday in 1950.

They soon started their family and were stationed in various locations across Canada. In 1968, Art was granted a compassionate transfer to CFB Winnipeg, to move the family closer to superior medical facilities where Lynn would receive a number of surgeries to improve her quality of life, living with Spina Bifida. Mickey and Art settled and lived permanently in Winnipeg, where they raised the family.

Our mother was the very definition of a homemaker and spent her entire life making our house a home. Mickey, Art, and his mother, Evelyn, created a home that was loving, nurturing, encouraging, and inclusive at a time when that was rare. Mickey was a wonderful cook and avid baker, preparing many family favourite meals and delicious baked goods. She also sewed and knitted, making clothing and accessories for her family and even for Lynn’s Barbie dolls. Creating Barbie doll clothes expanded further when she started making and selling these pieces to other families on the base. Their doors were always open to everyone, especially their children even during their most difficult times. They were delightful hosts of innumerable family gatherings, even as our families expanded.

Unwavering throughout Mom’s fifteen-plus-year battle with dementia were her love, grace, dignity, faith, and acceptance. Her question, “What should I be doing?” never ceased, as her desire to help and serve others always remained.

Rest in peace, our rock and comforter.

Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. Wojcik’s Chapel of Memories, 2157 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Reception to follow Service, Burial at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

A sincere thank you to the staff at Calvary Place PCH for the care they provided mom for the last few years.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or other charity.

GEORGE (BARRY) HOLLINS

JUNE 15, 1935 - APRIL 1ST, 2026

It is with profound sadness and deep gratitude for a life well lived, that we announce the peaceful passing of George (Barry) Hollins, after a lengthy illness, on April 1st, 2026 at the age of 90.

Barry was pre-deceased by his parents, George and Alice Hollins, brothers David and Gerry as well as his sister Janice Hollins.

He is survived by his loving wife, Loretta (Laurie), daughter Gayle Brennan (Shannon), sons Glenn (Karen), Jeff (Sharon) and Kevin (Bonnie). Left also to cherish his memory are 9 grandchildren: Jared Friesen, Kyle Laroque (Brittany), Trevor Hollins (Raquel Payne), Emily Richardson (Thomas), Lauren Hollins (Michael Laverge), Corbin Hollins, Brett Hollins, Chad Hollins and Tanner Hollins. He will also be fondly remembered by 6 great grandchildren; Madden, Bohdi, Delilah, Asher, Ally and Violet. He is also survived by his brother Wayne, sisters Sandra Miller and Judy Panasuk (Bob), sister-in-law Dorothy Hollins, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Barry was a devoted husband and a kind, soft-hearted, selfless man, always thinking of others first; a quality he passed down to all of us. He deeply loved his family and was so very proud of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a young man, Barry enjoyed many sports including hockey, baseball, fishing and golf. Later on, he became an avid curler and continued with his love of golf until only very recently. Barry began his career in 1953, at CIL, in Winnipeg. Although there were many name changes throughout the years, he worked for the same company for 36 years until the time of his retirement at the age of 54.

In 1957, he married the love of his life, Laurie, and together they enjoyed 68 adventurous years of marriage until the time of his passing. They spent more than 20 years raising their family in the Westwood neighborhood, where many life-long friends were made. During those years, Barry was always involved in the community, committing many volunteer hours to coaching or otherwise being involved in community hockey. Many special memories were made during the 1970's during summers spent at Toniata on Falcon Lake. In 1986, Barry and Laurie moved to Vancouver where they lived for roughly 5 years before retiring and moving home to Winnipeg to be closer to family. Soon after their return, they fulfilled a life-long dream by acquiring a lake-front cottage on Lac du Bonnet where six months of every year were spent hosting friends and countless memorable family gatherings.

Barry and Laurie enjoyed a lengthy and fruitful retirement, snow-birding in various southern locations including Florida and Texas but ultimately spent the majority of their retirement winters in Phoenix. They recently marked their 20th year as residents of Glendale Court, in Winnipeg, where they have many special friends and neighbors. Throughout his retirement, he continued to enjoy curling, golfing year-round, and many sunny days out on the lake fishing with Laurie. While his absence leaves a profound void, we take comfort in the love, memories and legacy he left behind.

In accordance with Barry's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Special thanks to the staff of the palliative care unit at St. Boniface hospital for their excellent care during his short stay.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Siloam Mission.

ELIZABETH CHISHOLM

Peacefully and with grace, Betty passed away in late afternoon March 25. Our Mom leaves her three children, Rick, Bob and Kelli; grandchildren Chris (Jannelle), Cody (Brandon), Mikael and Ryan, and great-grandchildren Emily, Harleigh, Oaklee and Brexley. Her beloved nephew and nieces, Steven and Christine (Mark), Shawna and Kim along with their families, her sisters-in-law Marilyn (Percy)and Heather also mark her passing with love. Mom was predeceased by her mother and father, brother Jim (Mary-Lou), and her daughters-in-law Jaris and Cindy. Dad passed away in 2014 and he and Mom are together again.

Mom grew up in Etobicoke, Ontario in the red brick house on Ash Crescent. Her heart returned there in her last years and memories of our time there are precious. She was a beautiful and loving soul who crafted a home for us, took us on adventures near and far, planned and executed so many birthday parties, family dinners and celebrations, loved and laughed with her card group, chronicled our lives meticulously and taught us the value of family and remaining connected to people no matter the distance.

Mom had many friends and friendships that spanned decades. Helen, Fran, Mary Ann, Gloria, Elaine and Bev are women who shared many laughs, good times, family get togethers, and certainly moments of mischief with her. Mom’s childhood friend, Bonnie, has been a constant in her life and our’s. They shared a bond since childhood that never wavered or weakened. Bonnie and Mom were a force; connected in childhood, through teenage years, falling in love years, weddings, motherhood, empty nest eras and right up to the present. Her friends gave her love and support each in their own way and her friendships are yet more examples of Mom’s sense of devotion, as well as her caring and fun sides of her personality.

She was graceful yet feisty and lived her life with integrity. Mom was a beauty queen, literally and figuratively. Our lives were enriched and made whole because of her, in so many ways. Family was her focus and she believed in all three of us, letting us make our own decisions while always being there for us.

We thank her caregivers at Poseidon Care Home for their love and compassion they gave to her these past few years.

A Celebration of her life will take place at a later date, in the warmer, sunny days ahead. For those who wish and are able a donation to a charity of your choice is appreciated.

Rest in peace Mom. We will continue to honour your memory in the spring when tulips bloom, the summer when warm breezes pass over, the fall when the leaves turn brilliant colours, and in the winter when the world turns to a winter wonderland.

We love you Mom.

Anna Joyce Watt (Derksen) (nee Dueck)
December 11,1942 – March 22, 2026

On March 22, 2026 at the age of 83, Anna Joyce Watt (Derksen) (nee Dueck) passed away peacefully into her heavenly home, with family by her side, following a short battle with pancreatic cancer, which she fought with grace and strength.

Born on December 11, 1942 to parents Peter and Margaret Dueck, Anna was the beloved twin of Marge, her 'other half' and lifelong best friend. She was also a cherished sister to 7 other siblings with whom she shared many special bonds throughout her life.

Anna’s early years were spent on her family’s farm in Blumenfeld where many treasured memories were made.

Later in life, Anna had three boys, Ken, Sheldon and Kelly, whom she loved dearly. Moving to Winnipeg and making a home for her young family there, she met John, and they were later married. Through their marriage, Anna, along with John, lovingly embraced not only her own children, but also John’s children and all of her grandchildren .

Anna treasured fishing trips with John, Christmases with her family and gatherings spent with her siblings back home, which were especially dear to her.

Anna’s faith was one of the guiding forces in her life. She was devoted to her church and gave generously of her time through volunteer work. Her time spent at Springs Church and at Vineyard Church in Mazatlán, gave deep purpose and joy and she made lifelong friendships there.

Anna had a special love for flower gardening, and she found great peace and happiness in tending to her flowers.

She will be remembered for her warmth, youthful spirit and love for life.

Anna is lovingly survived by her sons Sheldon (Richelle), Kelly (Wendy), and stepsons John (Darlene), Doug (Keiko) and her grand children and great grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by her husband John, son Ken and step children, Charles, Donald, Ron and Sharon.

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished and remembered by her loving family and special friends.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the compassionate care Anna received during her stay at the Grace Hospice.

A service will be held at Springs Church, 725 Lagimodiere Blvd, on Tuesday, April 14th at 12 noon.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba.

Raymond Ricard Jr.

After a lengthy illness it is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Raymond Joseph Gerard Ricard on Friday March 13th, 2026 at Deer Lodge Centre in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 60 years.

Ray was predeceased by his parents Mary Benedicta (Lambert) Ricard and Raymond Joseph Laurent Ricard; Grandparents Elizabeth & Joseph Lambert, Marie & Joseph Ricard; Step-great-nephew Jordan Stoll and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Left to Cherish Rays memory; Siblings - Russell (Carol) Ricard, Denise (Redge) Watt, Gene (Kathy) Ricard, Nieces & Nephews – Dominique (Mark), Marc (Wendy), Jenna (Lane), Chris (Kristin), Robyn (Justin), Raelyn (Nicole), Jarrit (Kat), Kaitlynn along with numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins extended family and friends.

Ray was born in Hudson Bay, SK on Aug 24th, 1965. He was raised on a farm in Etomami near Hudson Bay with his parents, two brothers and a sister. Ray graduated from High School in 1983. During his High School years, he participated in track and field, volleyball, fastball, chess club, drama, curling and intramural sports. His love of sports continued throughout his life and was a huge fan of Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Edmonton Oilers.

Ray attended Steinbach Bible College in Steinbach, MB where he was granted a Diploma in Biblical Studies in 1992. In 1994, he received a diploma of Business Information Systems from Herzing Institute in Winnipeg. He later returned to Steinbach Bible College where he then graduated with a Bachelor of Religious Studies with a Major in Church Ministry in 1998. Throughout his religious study career, he was fortunate to have met and made a long-time friendship with Pastor Harry Friesen who was an inspiration to Ray.

Ray spent time in Chicago, Illinois doing mission work and in November of 1995 Ray went to Covington, Kentucky where he was a helper at the Fairhaven Rescue Mission, a shelter for needy and homeless men. Ray found solace in helping these men go from homelessness to achieving a better life with a job and a home. Ray had said he felt like he belonged there because when he saw the men he had previously helped on the street, they would approach him to ask how he was doing. He said it felt like he made a difference. Ray always saw the best in people and helped anyway he could to make someone’s day brighter.

In 1998, Ray started his first Healthcare related job in Steinbach at El Dad Ranch which was a restorative justice program that housed males with intellectual disabilities. His role was to show these individuals what a positive, supportive network looked like and help them gain an appreciation for the value of obtaining and sustaining a regular job. Approximately 10 years later, Ray then was employed at WASO (Work And Social Opportunities Program). This program involved innovative work, life, social, recreational, and employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Some of his responsibilities were similar to that of healthcare aides, helping with transport, facility maintenance and at times finance support.

Prior to the deterioration of his health, Ray was active in sports, attended sports events, enjoyed movies and going swimming. He also had a very active social life. Due to his health issues and being diagnosed with cancer in 2019 he went from working in a health care sector to living in one. In January of 2020, Ray moved into Deer Lodge Center (DLC) in Winnipeg. While at DLC Ray was the Co-Chair of the Resident and Family Council where he was a representative for his floor to help foster communication between DLC, residents, and their families. While at DLC, Ray raised over $26,000 for the Deer Lodge Centre Foundation to renovate its outdated courtyard into an accessible therapeutic space. He raised the money by growing out his hair and beard for over a year. He truly loved the DLC community and made many meaningful friendships with staff and residents in his final years.

A Celebration of life will be held at the Wojciks Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 2157 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB on Saturday April 11th, 2026 at 2:00 pm. Officiating the service is Pastor Brian Brglez. In accordance with Ray’s wishes, a celebratory gathering and spreading of his ashes will take place Saturday August 29th, 2026 at 2:00pm on the Ricard Farm in Hudson Bay, SK with family and friends.

In Ray’s memory donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetes Canada or any Charity of your choice.
